Long overdue. I wish all of my American readers a happy Memorial Day weekend. Does anyone like Cox and Rathvon. I'd like some comments about the new Mensa cryptic 2 book. This weekend I'll do my standby fix of fraser Simpson with the Globe and Mail puzzle on Saturday.
Who else enjoys that one?? I'm still glad that there are so many puzzle books out there and the majority are still American. Please leave comments one and all.

Hi Nancy!
Guess what I did - I went on vacation - great for making conversation on long trips - and probably managed to misplace my copy :-(
But I suspect I'll find it soon. Which puzzle are you currently working?
Hi Nancy!
I found Both of my C&R books. Would you like to pick one puzzle and work it together?
You can reply at my blog or here. Have a puzzling summer!
Hello Michael. I think that we could work on # 12 together from
C&R. What do you think about 1-down?
Which - C&R or C&R2.
In C&R, #12, 1 down is
"Blasted on extra's horn (5,3)"
That's a pretty straightforward anagram clue.
So, I presume you mean
"Irritated, looking furtively for auditors (6)"
My first instinct would be to find a synonym for irritated that is also a homonym for "looking furtively"
Nothing jumped out at me at first. I'll keep thinking about it.
I got #1 down. #1 across as well. Do you want a hint or the answer? I was able to get #1 across was an anagram of "into play". Thus there were 8 choices for the first letter of #1 down. I was able to get it from there.
